Pump up the volume to bring on the burn

| | | | | |

from MSNBC.com

Hmmm..."Fit List"...we've heard that SOMEWHERE before!

Celebrity fitness trainer Jeanette Jenkins says high-energy tunes are key to busting exercise boredom. She shared her workout playlist in The Fit List. (Songs by Fergie, Ludacris and Justin Timberlake help get her clients pumped, she says.)

Great Workout Music

I love to make up playlists from my personal iTunes library to go with just about everything. Here's one of my favs for spinning.

1. Every Kinda People - Remix Robert Palmer
2. Sailin’ Shoes Robert Palmer
3 .Stone Flower Santana
4. Mary Had A Little Lamb Stevie Ray Vaughan
5. The Future Leonard Cohen
6. Don't Go Away Mad Little Village
7. Life During Wartime Talking Heads
8. Mississippi Sheryl Crow
9. She Came Along To Me Billy Bragg and Wilco
10. Can We Still Be Friends? - Remix Robert Palmer

I know everybody's got different tastes, but these are all really driving songs that help me get through, plus they are arranged to begin a little slower, build up, then slow down again--which is great for warming up and cooling down on a spin. Got a list to share?

Ask the DJ

I've been looking for a product that can help me create workout mixes from MY iTunes library that help me attain MY cardio rates for the duration of time that is right for ME. Ask the DJ , an ingenious little bpm engine that can from Wildbits Software, may just be the tool I've been looking for.

making fitlists

I downloaded the fitList Maker and opened it up. I have a question. How do I get all of my playlist data into the fitList format at one time? Any help is greatly appreciated.

How to make a fitList

| | | |
To submit a fitList for consideration on fitPod.com, download the attached fitList Maker (an Excel spreadsheet for Mac or Windows) and follow the instructions. When you have finished your fitList, upload it as instructed and the fitPod team will review and format for publishing on the site. Forums are the place to go with questions, tips on BPM estimating, iTunes settings that result in better fitLists, setting up the "Get" button, and more.<

iPod as stopwatch. Clever!

| | | | |
Mose is preparing for his first 5k race using the previously-mentioned Couch to 5K training plan which prescribes timed intervals of alternate running and walking. To avoid constantly checking his stopwatch, Mose set up his iPod to let him know when the next interval starts: Using iTunes I’ve created a playlist with a song for each running or walking interval and set the stop time of each song for the length of the interval. Now, when the song changes I know I need to transition from jogging to walking or vice-versa. Clever! To do this, in iTunes, right-click on a song and choose “Get Info.” In the Options tab, set the song’s stop time.
