When the Amgen Tour of California blasts through your town at 30 mph next week, you should do what any respectable bike racing fan does -- stand on the side of the road and cheer until you're blue in the face. But if you aren't lucky enough to see the riders up close, just follow the race on Google Earth.

What a great website!!
Hi everyone! It is just great that there is finally a site for all of us who gotta have some music to workout to. I stumbled onto fitPod while on LibSyn checking my stats. I see djSteveboy hangs out here too. I'm finally getting ready to get back into producing shows for Pedal Radio. It's been a long crazy summer - remodeling and moving into a new house, changing jobs and running and riding every chance I get. As soon as Mixmeister sends me the keys for my new copy of Propaganda, I'll post my latest show.
I'm just a middle-aged jogger and benthead trying to stay sane and in shape by running and riding. In the past there was hardly any podcasts out there to ride on the trainer to. Now it's finally catching on! This has motivated me to add to the mix so we all don't get stoned-bored listening to the same stuff all of the time. It's going to be another long winter in Wisconsin, so I'm loading up for the indoor rides.
In The Zone: Getting a Good Fit
Yesterday, I loaded up djsteveboy's "Rainy Day Run" on my nano (yes, it's been raining in the desert) and went for a recovery run in the hills near my home. Afterward, I loaded it up to motionbased.com
Recovery is a wonderful thing. It gives our bodies a chance to repair, of course, but it also is comfortable and allows the mind to wander while working out ... you don't have to worry about where your next breath of air is coming from. Anyway, I used the time to think about how to teach you to create a training plan that works for you. Remember, this is all about YOU.
What He's Been Pedaling
By DANIEL COYLE, New York Times ‘‘That’s the one,’’ Floyd Landis said, his index finger tapping rapidly on a glossy page. ‘‘That’s what I want.’’ It was a lovely June evening in Murrieta, a small city in Southern California, and it was 10 days before the start of the Tour de France, the most prestigious and grueling of all cycling races. Landis, one of America’s hopefuls in the race now that Lance Armstrong has retired from the sport, was sitting on his patio, eating a piece of Greek-style pizza and shopping for a new hip. Actually, he was not shopping so much as hunting. As Landis looked through the pages, his lean 5-foot-10, 150-pound body shifted hungrily, his muscles flickering beneath his tan Harley-Davidson T-shirt and blue jeans. His gaze was sharp and intense; his reddish hair stuck out in spots, as if it were electrified.
WKO+ from CyclingPeaks: "ultimate workout analysis software"
Cycling Peaks Software bills its WKO+ system as the "Ultimate Analysis Software." And the software certainly covers many bases. Combine WKO+ with hardware monitoring devices, such as a GPS reader, heart rate monitor, widely-available cycle odometers, and more, and you can track your training progress in fine-grained detail....just the thing for competitive cyclists, serious runners, and triatheletes, not to mention coaches. CyclingPeaks WKO+ is just one of many software tools the company offers for refining and improving the tracking of fitness activity with desktop tools.
24 Hours at the World's Hippest Gym
24-Hour Sweaty People By GUY TREBAY , New York Times
COME 7 a.m. the hard-core types have already been and gone, the ultramarathoners in training, the laser-focused triathlete working toward another Ironman, the body-image compulsives and exercise-bulimics with their sinewy limbs and the telltale coating of downy forearm hair. Let us not omit mention of the onetime male porn star, the guy with the bloated Popeye muscles and nipples so distended they resemble elevator buttons: Floor please! Most every weekday the Lafayette Street outpost of Crunch Fitness is that place of New York fable, an establishment that remains open 24 hours.
