In The Zone: Technology is a Girl's Best Friend

I now have confirmation that I'm not weird. Well, my daughter still thinks I am, but my love of tech toys does NOT make me weird.

A new survey for the Oxygen Network found more than three out of four women said they'd choose a large-screen TV over a diamond solitaire necklace. They also picked a snazzy cell phone over designer shoes. And bye-bye little black dress. Women would rather buy an iPod.

OK, I draw the line at the shoes. Here's the story from USA Today

And while we're talking about technology, I've been playing with the Garmin Forerunner 305 (see previous blog ) and uploading to Garmin's nifty tracking site Motionbased.com. By uploading data from a compatible GPS unit (most are Garmin .... Garmin owns Motionbased, afterall) MotionBased automatically calculates time, distance, speed, elevation, heart rate and cadence metrics into meaningful charts, illustrations, reports, and maps.

Looking at your route in maps is way cool. You can choose from a variety of map backgrounds. While runners and road cyclists will be drawn to street maps, hikers and mountain bikers may find satellite photo or topo maps more useful.

The best part is a basic membership is free. Check 'em out.

Until next time,

Nancy
